Women have been a driving force behind the craft beer scene from its beginning, and it's time to drink to their accomplishments. Join Lauren Clark, author of Crafty Bastards: Beer in New England from the Mayflower to Modern Day and editor of Northampton-based Take Magazine, at Fort Hill Brewery on Thursday, August 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. to celebrate some of Western Massachusetts' leading women in the beer industry and the local, raw ingredients they use to brew it. Featured guests include Andrea Stanley of Valley Malt in Hadley, Liz L'Etoile of Four Star Farms in Northfield, and Kristen Sykes of the Boston Area Beer Enthusiasts Society and recent Pioneer Valley transplant. The role of women in beer continues to grow across the board: from farmers to brewers to educators and everywhere in between, women are pivotal to the success of the craft beer industry. All beer lovers, male and female, are invited to Fort Hill's beautiful farmhouse brewery to celebrate. Copies of Crafty Bastards will be available for purchase and signing at the event, and tasty Fort Hill brews will be on tap.
